How to book a blood test for children under 12 years of age:


 


-Book via Swiftqueue www.swiftqueue.co.uk Registration must be completed in full and confirmation of the booking received before attending.


 


-For those that do not have internet access, and also for children who have learning disabilities, call Children’s Outpatients on 01708 435289


 


-Children with special needs should ONLY be booked on a Monday.


 


-Bloods for genetic testing should be booked before 11am and no genetic bloods on a Friday

Home Medicine Cabinet

med cabKeep all medicines locked-up and out of the reach of children.

    • Antiseptic Cream: For treating septic spots, sores in the nose and grazes.

    • Antiseptic Solution: One teaspoon diluted in warm water for cleaning cuts and grazes.

    • Aspirin: For adults or children over 12. Good for headaches, colds, sore throats and painful bruises.

    • Calamine Lotion: For dabbing (not rubbing) on insect bites and stings and sunburn.

    • Crepe Bandage 3" Wide : To keep dressings in place. To support sprained or bruised joints.

    • Dressing Strips: For minor cuts.

    • Gauze Squares: For cleaning cuts and grazes.

    • Menthol Crystals: Add to hot water to make steam inhalations for treating catarrh and dry or painful coughs.

    • Paracetamol Mixture: For relief of pain or fever in young children.

    • Paracetamol Tablets/Capsules: For adults or children over 12. Good for headaches, colds, sore throats and painful bruises.

    • Sedative Cough Linctus: For dry or painful coughs - but not coughs caused by common colds.

    • Thermometer: For fevers.

    • Vapour Rub: Again, for steam inhalations. Also useful for children with stuffy noses or dry coughs. Rub on the chest and nose.
